Digging up some old eateries. We visited LA in Dec – Jan and our friend took us around for good food.
We were taken to 小南國 Southern Mini Town Restaurant in San Gabriel, Ca, specialize in Shanghaiese Cuisines. This place is tiny and packed. You literally elbow each other. But food was good.
There were 5 of us, and we ordered 7 dishes.
Shanghai Thick Noodle Chow Mein: noodle was perfect al-dente.
Noodle with Scallion: a little too soft on this one.
Sweet and Sour Fish Fillet – ok, not my fav.
Wuxi Style Spareribs – my fav!! crispy spare ribs with sweet and savory sauce, perfect with rice.
Fried Seaweed Yellow Fish: very crispy and hot, very good. it was served with a sweet & sour sauce, I think.
Sauteed Squash – good. just need a plate of veggie to balance the meal.
Glutinous Rice Balls in Wine Flavoured Soup – perfect dessert, but just not my cup of tea.
Our total bill was around $55.00, not too bad for a 7 dishes.
