Dan Izakaya is probably one of the better and well known Japanese Izakaya 居酒屋 restaurant in the Bay Area. We made a reservation for 7pm, but still had to wait 10 minutes. The place is small and very packed. We do like the Izakaya feel. Service was very good.
We started off with Grilled Beef Tongue – not too chewy, perfectly grilled with salt and pepper.
Butter Grilled Mochi with Spicy Cod Roe – my favorite of the night, love the chewy-ness from the mochi, the salty-ness from the fish roe makes the plain mochi very flavorful.
Grill Squid Salad – this was not bad, but doesn’t stand out from the rest of the dishes.
Refreshing Salad – I forgot the name of this and why we got this haha.
Another favorite dish of the night Salmon Roe & Uni Stone Pot Rice – we got the medium size. There was plentiful of salmon roe, and uni was buttery.
Mix all together … omg … so good!!!
We also ordered couple Nigiri, Amaebi and White Tuna … white tuna was buttery and loved the Ama-Ebi and fried AmaEbi Head!!!
I would definitely love to come back.
