BLUE LINE PIZZA – LOS GATOS, CA (BAY AREA)

We were in Los Gatos couple weeks ago, just a nice walk in the downtown area. There was a Blue Line Pizza in the area, apparently just recently opened. This place was packed.

We ordered a Mixed Salad as started, the salad was huge for 2 of us. Packed with mixed greens, gorgonzola and walnuts in a vinaigrette dressing.

Deep dish or thin crust? We opted for Italian Combo Thin Crust – pepperoni, salami, onions, bell peppers, olives … etc. Very so-so pizza, I wouldn’t even call it a thin crust – pretty thick to me. I couldn’t go out of my way for their pizza.

SEN DAI SUSHI – MILIPITAS, CA (BAY AREA)

Sen Dai is our local sushi joint, whenever we ran out of ideas of sushi place … Sen Dai comes in mind. Their sushi is always fresh, delicious and huge portion! The negative is always a line outside, we waited almost 55 minutes on a Friday evening.

Sen Dai fries their Soft Shell Crab a little different, they use a breadcrumb like breading … where as many other places use the tempura style breading. I personally liked with the tempura breading, but this breadcrumb exterior gave it an extra crunch! Overall, its an okay appetizer.

We ordered 1 Rainbow Roll, 90% of their rolls on the menu are filled with crab meat and avocado, I guess that’s how they can keep up with all the orders. They don’t skimp on the fish, all were decent thickness and the roll were huge. I mean each piece is like size of 3-4 quarters! If I was there alone, this could fill me up.

We also ordered a Salmon Benton Box with a side of Sashimi – you can’t never go wrong with it. Simply good.

We were extremely full by end of this meal and our total was less than $40 – for Japanese food, its not bad.

FOOD TALK CAFE 食神 – FREMONT, CA (BAY AREA)

上兩個禮拜去左食神到食晚飯. 餐廳是滿的不過唔需要等好耐. 我地叫左兩個簡單餸.

叫左一個乾炒牛河, 其實在East Bay, 食神已經是炒得幾好. 個人覺得都有鑊氣, 最驚是有d餐廳炒到好似一pat野咁. 不過係有少少過鹹.

我自己就叫左一個海南雞飯. D雞 肉好嫩不過唔係跟3個醬汁. 飯係油飯不過用左最粗既米所以口感唔係咁好.

因為怕唔夠食所以叫多左一碟細, 其實唔係好辣, 送飯也ok.

100% SWEET CAFE – SAN FRANCISCO, CA (BAY AREA)

From the name 100% Sweet Cafe, you would think its a dessert place … in fact, it is but it also has a huge entree menu that serves some HK style cafe food. This is our 3rd time here, first couple times we only came for desserts. This place opens late and always packed at weekends.

We came here to try out the menu this time; arrived at 7pm, no need to wait. There was 3 of us.

Hubby always like to order Red Bean Ice 紅豆冰, a Hong Kong Cafe staple drink. I am not a big fan of this, it a little sweet to my liking – its a personal preference thing.

Stir-fried Beef Spaghetti 牛柳炒意粉 – noodles were al-dente, served very hot, beef was tender, a typical Chinese noodle dish – nothing special to me, I can make this at home.

Hamburger Sizzling Plate with Mushroom Sauce 漢堡鐵板蘑菇汁 – mother-in-law ordered something lighter. I didn’t try, it looks ok.

I was very hungry, so I ordered the Assorted Appetizer to share, I should’ve ordered something lighter … it was pretty oily for me. Left overs to take home.

Overall, I think the desserts were better than the entrees. I would come back for the dessert if I am around the area.

HON’S WUN TUN HOUSE 洪記麵家 – SAN FRANCISCO, CA (BAY AREA)

Hon’s Wun Tun House is different a homemade old style wontons. It was my first time there, but I do like their wonton noodles soup. Place is small with 8-10 small tables and right across from Portsmouth Square.

We came during non-busy hours … still 3 tables eating.

I started off with the Wonton Noodle Soup – oh for some reason the glass of tea with the wonton noodles really reminded me of Hong Kong Cha Chan Tang 茶餐廳. Anyways, the broth was very good and it tasted like they used traditional dried flounder and shrimp for the broth. Wontons were bouncy. Portion was a little smaller than I expected – good for afternoon snack I guess.

Hubby ordered the Braised Beef Noodle Soup – beef was very tender. I think they used the same broth in this, but added extra scoop of the braised beef sauce, which was good.

Noodles here are very al-dente! Just the way I love it!
