LAS VEGAS TRIP (DAY 3) – MONTA RAMEN

Our last day in Las Vegas, before depart we wanted to go check out the Chinatown. It has been years since I last visited LV Chinatown. LV is a fast pace changing city, so are the surrounding places. Chinatown has expanded a lot, many newly built Asian plazas. I am glad we stop by here, eye opening.

We decided to go to Monta Ramen for lunch. Monta opened at  11:30am, and there is a line already!! We saw people lining up outside, after waiting for a little bit, my friend noticed there is a sign up sheet inside!!! Damn it!! They should leave the sign up outside! Oh, there is no sign saying Manto in front, but you can’t miss it with the long line outside.

Anyways, after about almost 1 hour wait, we finally got seated at the bar … which was fine, we get to look at the chefs.

Food! We ordered a Large Pork Belly Rice Bowl to share – the fatty pieces of pork were cooked perfectly, so tender, buttery, just goes perfect with rice! I really miss this!

Hubby ordered the basic Tonkotsu Ramen with egg added – broth is very bold and tense, and what I love the most is not overly salty!

I ordered the Kuro Ramen with egg added on the daily special board – black garlic oil ramen, I really love it. Egg was perfectly soft boiled, runny center. I do wish that it was thick noodles, this is just personal preference 🙂

LAS VEGAS TRIP (DAY 2) – GORDON RAMSAY BurGR

Las Vegas day 2 dinner, my long anticipate restaurant to try out. We were there early, around 6:30pm … waiting line wasn’t bad. We walked up to the counter and give them our phone number, they will text you when table is ready. We hang out in the casino for about 50mins, finally got the text! Yeah!!

The first thing that caught our eyes of course was the Fire Display! Amazing!

Hubby’s favorite Beer Battered Maui Onion Ring with Chipotle Ketchup and Cheddar Ranch Dips. It was super light and crispy, my friend said he can taste the beer!

My friend ordered Southern Yardbird Burger – per my friend, it was the most tender juicy chicken burger he even tasted. It was indeed very tender!

Finally, I wanted to try something other than burger, so I ordered something I really miss since I came back from London. Fish & Crisp Sandwich – it was a huge piece of fish served in between thick Texas Toast, topped with thin crisp with salted and vinegar. The fish was perfectly fried, light and crispy, steamy and flaky fish!

I would definitely go back!

LAS VEGAS TRIP (DAY 2) – MON AMI GABI, FRENCH BRUNCH

After a good night of rest, into our 2nd day in Vegas. We started with a nice brunch at Mon Ami Gabi @ Paris Hotel. The patio was fully packed, but we wanted to seat inside anyway. Very nice, warm, cozy decor inside, it does remind us of Paris restaurant.

Nice grand entrance!

LOS ANGELES to LAS VEGAS TRIP 11/28/2014 – DAY 1 (LA – POPCORN CHICKEN & LV – BELLAGIO BUFFET)

Finally back from our short LA – LV – LA trip.

Lets start the blogging. We left on Friday and we took Southwest to LA first, meet up with a friend then drove together to LV. Drive wasn’t as bad as we thought, but it need took 6 hours.

When we arrived into LA, we were pretty hungry and wanted to take some snacks for the long drive. So our friend in Irvine suggested Popcorn Chicken – a pretty good Taiwanese popcorn chicken place. Ironically right next to Tea Station.

Popcorn Chicken is located in Irvine, CA.

Tons of fried items, exotic fried pork blood, chicken gizzards, etc …

Lots of fried goodies

We ordered: Popcorn Chicken, Fried Calamari, Fried Fish Cakes. All was really good, it was perfectly seasoned. I especially enjoyed the chicken, it was crispy with basil flavors.

Finally got into LV around 8:30pm. We planned for buffet at Bacchanal Buffet, but end up can’t go. We asked our friend to line up first while we check in at the hotel. However, Bacchanal stop taking anybody without reservation, no walk-ins. Really disappointed!

It’s Vegas, so we had to eat buffet at least once. We went to Bellagio instead, wait was about 1 hr. But honestly, for the price we paid for … it was really lack of quality. Oh well, just for the buffet experience.

Buffets – Crab legs, Sushi, Smoked Salmon, Caviar … ok, nothing wow.

Kobe Beef, Prime Rib and Grilled Quails – I personally liked the prime rib better, just more tender and juicy. Quail was tender, but really lack of flavors.

Desserts – Creme Brulee is the best! Crusty sugar top! The Custard Napoleon Cake was ok too. But the Blood Orange Macaron was BAD, it was chewy like bubble gum!!
