FRANKFURT – LONDON (Wagamama) – USA – BACK HOME

Finally going back home, but need a flying marathon first. We finished up a little something in Frankurt, then fly back to London the next day and catch a flight back home!

While in Frankfurt, we went to the REWE grocery store and grab a simple, cheap, delicious dinner! So much meat though!

Next morning, we had to catch a morning flight to London. Just a short 2 hour flight .. I really loved the mini-cute Coke they were given out. Perfect 1 cup size.

We had 4 hours wait in London Heathrow Airport. Of course did last minute shopping! Bought candies and jams. We also ate lunch at Wagamama, seems like a very popular franchise in London.

I ordered a Wagamama Ramen Noodles – it was very bad. The broth was sweet, like artificial fake sweet! The noodles were very soft, just not right. But it did fill up my stomach 😐

Finally, our flight crews! Good Bye London …. see you next time!

LONDON – DAY 12 (CHINATOWN & PATISSERIE VALERIE)

Our last full day in London – finally our last full day in London. Tomorrow we will be leaving to Frankfurt, we started our trip there so have to leave from Frankfurt – flying marathon!

Ok, I have to admit, I was super craving for Chinese by day 12 … so we headed to London Chinatown this morning. For some reason, Chinatown seems bigger this time. I guess last time I was visiting Chinatown at night, can’t see much. During day time, it seems bigger.

We stopped in Wai Chai Corner for breakfast, I was so happy to have some dim sums! At first I thought the place was kind of small, but realized that they have 2nd floor. Anyway, we don’t mind sitting at 1st floor. We ordered so much food, the people there probably think we just came out from jail!

The food was not bad, portion was decent. For some reason I always thought the food in Europe are smaller portion, but I guess not Chinese food. Oh there were only 3 of us.

We had a little walk around the SOHO area shop around and a little Piccadilly. We stopped in Patisserie Valerie for coffee break. I was here last Jan 2014 and had a Full English Breakfast 🙂

Very nice and grand entrance, this place was packed around 3pm.

We had to do a trade show in the evening, so no time for dinner …. just quick bite from grocery store.

1 day in Frankfurt tomorrow, then leaving!

LONDON – DAY 11 (FORTNUM & MASON, LONDON – AFTERNOON TEA)

The must do in London – Afternoon Tea! This is one of my must do thing in here is to have a traditional English Afternoon Tea. Originally we wanted to go to Ritz, but it was fully booked … so we went to Fortnum & Mason Diamond Jubilee Tea Salon. Fortnum & Mason itself its a luxury department store in central London. When you entered, you will noticed the grand gourmet store filled with candies, chocolates and tea.

Situated on the 4th floor is where the Afternoon Tea takes place, very beautiful and elegant tea place.

Our friend made reservation, there was no need to wait. Simple menu, you had few choices and I opted for the Fortnum’s Afternoon Tea with Jasmine Tea, while my friend opted for the Savory Afternoon Tea.

Left side was Savory Afternoon Tea, there was no sweets on this tiers. Right was Fortnum’s Afternoon Tea, which is traditional English Tea with sweets and finger sandwiches with a tower of clotted cream and jam.

Here is a more detail look for the 2 towers. Left 3 were savory, right 3 were traditional. I like my traditional tea better, because I love traditional scone with clotted cream and jam. Everything on the tower were beautifully presents and tasty. The scone on the savory tower served with couple savory cream, I forgot what they were. The finger sandwiches on both towers were the same.

This runs about £42-£46 per person. This is solely for the experience, I am pretty there are other Afternoon Tea places in London. Regardless where you chose to go, I think Afternoon Tea is a must do in London.

LONDON – DAY 10 (THE FISH HOUSE – NOTTING HILL)

Today was another day spent in Notting Hill, we bought something here yesterday for a friend but need to exchange size … so we were back in Notting Hill shopping again. It can’t say enough how beautiful this space its, very calm and elegant.

We wanted lunch before leaving this area, so stopped by this place called The Fish House. The traditional fish & chips caught my eyes. The front looks pretty small, but if you walk up those narrow stairs, there were small dinning area on each floor. And when I say small, I meant it … 2nd floor only have 1 table with 8 seats, 3 floor has about 6 small tables. But this is London.

Eat in and takeaway prices were different, we opted for eat-in. There were 4-5 kinds of fish to choose from. I ordered Cod small size. It was a pretty big portion, I couldn’t finish the chips. It was served piping hot and crispy, I just love the crispy edge. Perfect tender, flaky cod with crispy chips!

LONDON – DAY 8, 9 (NOTTING HILL)

More catch up today. Few more days in London. Day 8 is more of a relax day, we had a simple yet delicious breakfast at Paul’s.

Yes, Paul’s again … I am in love with Paul’s pastry and coffee. My Apricot Pastry and Coffee from Paul’s, yes apricot again and love it again and again!

We actually took the afternoon and went to an Outlet Mall at Bicester Village. It was about 1 hour train ride from London Marylebone to Bicester North. Must go there, lots of designer shops and discount, and duty free! Sorry, I didn’t take any pictures … too busy window shopping 🙂

Next Day – we had to go to a business meeting in the morning. So just grabbed something simple and close at Costa – chocolate pastry and latte. Pastry not as good as Paul’s.

By the time we finished our meeting, it was around 3pm … we decided to take a look at Notting Hill – there was an outdoor market there with tons of people!! Very fun and interesting to look at!

We had a business dinner in the evening as well. It was at a steak restaurant called Gaucho. It was a very nice and beautiful restaurant, however the food was a bit disappointed.

I asked for medium-rare for my steak, but it came out almost like medium or well done! I was really disappointed for a high end steak house cook it like this. I couldn’t bother to ask them to re-cook, we have 12 people in our party, too much hassles. Just very disappointed.
