Before we arrived in Carmel, Ca, we stopped at Phil’s Fish Market & Eatery for lunch. We wanted to try their famous Cioppino! This place was about 1 hour from bay area. We got here around 12:30pm on Labor Day, and boy it was crowded. The line was a the way to the parking lot.
Ordering was simple, have your friend or family member go inside first and grab a menu. Decide what you want to order prior getting to the order counter (the lady there can be rushing). We waited almost 45 minutes just to get to the counter. You place your order at the counter, pay for it, and get a number stand. That’s all, go find a empty table (that can be hard), put the number on the table and they will bring the food to you. Oh you get your own drinks, they have water and soda machine next to the order counter.
Originally we wanted oyster, but they were sold out. We change to Cherrystone Clams (Large), sold out again, We end up getting Littleneck Clams (Medium). Got 4, a little small to me, but still taste very fresh.
Squid Platter Rings 1lb, breading was light and crispy, truly 1 lb …. lots!
Ohhhh … the Cioppino. This was very best dish of this lunch. This bowl was about $20.00, but it was a good size for 2 or maybe 3 people. It was loaded with seafood, crab, crab meat, shrimp, squid, white fish, salmon, clams, scallop, mussels … it was delicious! We finished everything!!!
They are opened every day, EXCEPT close half day Christmas Eve, close full day Thanksgiving Day & Christmas Day.
