FRANKFURT GERMANY DAY 3 – HAUS WERTHEYM

Our last day in Frankfurt, we attended the Frankfurt Tradeshow today as well and super tired by 6pm.

Apologize first for the low light pictures, just too dark inside and outside.

Our friends booked Haus Wertheym and highly recommended their pork knuckles. It was a sad cold, windy, rainy night. The restaurant is located in the Frankfurt Old Towne – very beautiful place, I wish It wasn’t raining.

Apparently this restaurant has been around since 1400s – one of the oldest restaurants in Frankfurt. Lots of historic designs and decor inside. I have to say the food was very disappointed.

The food was very disappointed. We order the Pork Knuckles to try, oh my lord … the skin was tough and chewy!!! I couldn’t chew it at all. Very very disappointed! I wish I had more time in Frankfurt to try out couple more Pork Knuckle place, I just couldn’t believe it.

The best dish was the German Sausages and Crispy Potatoes, actually the crispy potatoes was the best part. I do love the German Sausages has that crunchy casing.

And of course the Black Dark Beer, I personally do not like beer, I just don’t know how to enjoy the bitterness. But the German Black Beer was very smooth, I actually liked it with the meal.

FRANKFURT GERMANY DAY 2 – TRADE SHOW CHRISTMAS WORLD

After a night of rest, I seemed to be a lot better … at least my head was functioning. My boss husband got up early and actually went down the terminal for grocery shop – REWE. He said he got up at 5am … omg!

My alarm was set at 7:30am … anyway, he got me a HUGE ham sandwhich and fruit oatmeal for breakfast. How on the world can I finish those 2 huge items for breakfast!!

He got my boss the same thing + 1 extra pomegranate pastry.

Fresh Fruit Oatmeal – the best fruit oatmeal I have ever eaten because there were tons of fruits!!! Lots of grapes, blueberries!! Not too sweet at all! But this thing was huge, I only ate half and put rest in fridge.

Ham Sandwich – a THICK cut of ham!! Not as salty as the ones in the states, I only had the stomach to eat the ham and skipped the bread.

We attended the Frankfurt trade show 2015 – mostly the Christmas World section, it was lots of walking. We started 9am and took at lunch break in the building cafe around 1pm. Everything was in German, we had no idea how to order. Just point to the items we want … I ordered a Salmon, some veggies, and bowl of ginger squash soup. Errr …. it wasn’t good. The salmon was over cooked, veggies were tasteless, the soup …. speechless. Oh well, at least my tummy was full.

We finally left the trade show at 5pm … my legs were stiff!! We went back to the hotel and took a break. And had a quick simple dinner around 7:30pm in a restaurant located in the terminal.

I ordered sashimi and shared with my boss. Also ordered some stir fry noodles, I forgot to take pictures … too tired.

FRANKFURT GERMANY DAY 1 – FRANKFURT AIRPORT

After a short 7 hours 30 minutes flight, we finally arrived in Frankfurt International Airport. This airport is HUGE. After we landed, we still have to taxi 10-15 minutes to the gate. Very huge!

We stayed in Hilton Garden Inn in terminal 2, so everything was very convenient. There are groceries, coffee shops, restaurants just right down stairs. We landed in the evening and was terribly tired, so we took a nap until 7pm and meet up with couple of our friends.

Just wanted a quick dinner and head back to the hotel and rest, so we picked an Itanlian resturant in Terminal 1 – Bagutta PIZZA CULTURE. I guess they specialized in pizza, against the odd, we all ordered pasta.

I ordered a Vitamin juice to boost my immune system a bit, very tiny bottle for 3.50Euro. Doesn’t taste bad, just expensive.

I ordered a Pasta with prawns, it taste like fresh egg pasta, very fresh, very good. The sauce was light, the basil gives a bit of refreshing taste.

JAN-29-06

We ordered 2 pastries to share among 5 of us. I love the lemon cheesecake, very light and fluffy. I didn’t try the other piece, but it looks good.JAN-29-07

EUROPE TRIP – CHICAGO to LONDON to FRANKURT

It has been a long trip. I finally got back home last night, extremely tired and jetlag – woke up 4am!

Anyways, this trip has been very fulfilling … partial for work and part for fun.

We started in St. Louis and Chicago O’Hare airport, took British Airways to London and connect to final destination Frankfurt.

We had a big breakfast in STL airport Chili’s. Nothing to wow about, just simple breakfast to fill up our tummy. I couldn’t finish the potatoes.

We had a 4 hours wait in Chicago, so we ended up eating more!! My boss really want to fill me up!

We stopped at Tocco inside the international terminal. It is a Italian Neaplitan wood fired pizza. We ordered lemonade to refresh ourselves after the long security lines.

The waitress suggested Quattro Stagioni – it has black olives, mushrooms, artichokes, ham and topped with easy over egg. Pizza was pretty thin and excellent balance of flavors, not bad really.

After 7 hours 30 minutes, we finally arrived in London … its my first time in this new terminal 5 in London. Everything is very bright and new, lots of travelers of course. I really love this new terminal.

Finally our short flight London to Frankfurt, only 1 hour 40 minutes. We were given a Smoked Ham and Cheese Croissant. This is different from US flights, usually we only get a bag of peanuts or pretzels.
